Why I Chose ISLAM?

Assalamualaikum (Peace be upon you).

I was born in a Buddhist family. When I was little, my younger brother and sister used to go to the Sunday school at the Buddhist Association but I always refused to join as I was lazy to wake up in early morning during Sundays I guess. I sometimes followed my mom to the temple but that was mostly when school exam is around the corner or I was going to sit for the major exams like UPSR/PMR/SPM.

I am not really an atheist because it is in the human nature (or just me) that when you comes to extreme situations, your instinct will tell you to pray to God for help. But still I (persuading myself) trusted myself more than God. I was told that Buddha is the God. The idea did not persuade me because even Buddha was once a human, it did not answer me who is The Creator of the whole universe. (Sorry if I have offended any Buddhist, that was my perspective and you may not have to agree with me.)

When I entered the University, I have a lot of friends who are Muslims. That was when I was really being exposed to this religion. I never thought that I would revert. Never. I doubted Islam, and worst even I criticized about it. I questioned why Allah SWT created mankind and yet made us suffer. What is the purpose of living? Why so much restriction? Why people who claim themselves as Muslim do bizarre things which are opposing the teachings (Mostly shown in the media)?

When you questioned, He will show you the answer. SubhanAllah. Soon I learnt, Muslim does not represent Islam. Islam has exist since the start, it was passed down by a lot of Prophets. Prophet Isa AS (Nabi Isa AS) or known as Jesus in Christianity was one of the Prophet sent by Allah SWT before Prophet Muhammad SAW. Islam we know today is taught based on the Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad SAW (who was the last Prophet sent by Allah SWT).

Some things are meant to be experienced but not verbally explained. There are a lot of reasons why I think Islam is good but it may sounds odd to some people so I decided to just stop here before you think I gone crazy.

Here I am, wearing all covered up even I once almost sworn that I will not put on the hijab. Living from a Muslim's perspective has really opened up my eyes. The world is full of people with bizarre behavior, Alhamdulilah I have Islam teachings to keep my nerves. Living with a little more contented and gratitude, stop being too materialistic and start giving back to the society who are struggling to live.

Life is just temporary.

Me and my lovely mummy!

Assalamualaikum, peace be upon you.

  1. I'm so very proud of you Jess..not because I'm a Muslim but because you made the effort to question your faith and your perception of things..to find the truth. You are content with what you discovered. It does not matter if it is right or wrong. May Allah (swt) bless you and your supportive family. Stay safe and stay strong! :)

  4. Can you help me answering some question?
I am born Muslim but have some trembling insiden my heart right now because some question bothering me.
    1. I cant imagine my christian Friends burn in hell, theyre such good person. I keep up and down in my iman, and question like why Allah tested us about something in the past that all of we didnt witness such as Muhammad and Isa.. if we were in some age we can see and witness, but here if our guess gi wrong we Will be doomed, and not all people know what really Islam teach.. i wish we have prophet in our age

    2. Some of the teaching seems ambiguous because people representatif about it, let me mention some, is music halal? Is tax allowed? (What is syariah say about working in collecting tax), should eomen stay at home? What about
These kind of question keep bugging me because we dont know what really is prophet Muhammad explain about it, maybe for example He curse tax (country income should be coming from natural resources first), or maybe He Will let and suppotrt taxes for emergency condition in a country that the ruler not islamic.. we dont really know..that makes me sick Islam people have many interpretation and honestly im confused. For my life these thing is about life level choices because of some my life condition.. and i still dont really understand. My iman going weak even in Ramadhan..

Sorry uf my question bothering you but im in my lowest level of faith and maybe your answer from your pov can bring some light. I was silent reading your blog, then when this time a write 'why.. in Google your blog poped again and i just think maybe i can write some comment

    1. I will answer on her behalf even though I don’t believed that you were born Muslim but more likely you are Christian try to instill doubt in her mind.
Let me explain what the Muslim view toward Christian.

The Qur'an describes Christians and Jews as members of the family of Abraham (one of the prophets) and Muslims respect these religions because they believe that they all worship the same God. But Muslims do not believe that Jesus was the Son of God, but that he was one of God's prophets, just like Muhammad.
Muslims believe in many of the stories about Jesus that the Christians believe in.
For example, they believe in the virgin birth and that Jesus will come again.
In fact, Jesus (Isa) is regarded within Islam as a special prophet. His name is in the Qur'an 25 times - more times than Muhammad's. We Muslim also believed we are the true follower of Jesus by following what Jesus teaches not what the church teaches.
With regard to The Hell and The Heaven, it is well known by Abrahamic religion that those places belong to God and only God alone will choose whoever He want to put in those two places, and of course based on certain criteria He send down to us.
We believed Islam is The Best and Final Religion Accepted by God and who ever follow Islamic guidance will go to heaven as a reward from God.
As per your question on good Christian, still it depend on God, weather to accept them or not because it is not for us to judge who going to heaven or hell because that places was not own by us. Simple.

  5. To be guided is a great gift from Allah. Always be grateful to Him and may your life be a means of your family and others being guided too.
